What lies beyond the lights?
In the beginning, we wondered about who would be up there. Would our creators be there, staring at us from an unreachable heaven?
We inspected the lights in the sky, we analyzed them, we tried to understand their meaning. Who were we, in relation to them?
But, we wondered, were there some rules in this game? Did we feel, for a brief moment, that we could almost caress those lights?
Then, we realized that we could touch the lights that we now called "stars".
Our golden age of discovery began, and we settled for a journey that would turn us into citizens of the universe.
Commentary
I've always admired scientists who make breakthrough discoveries. They are the real backbone of our evolution, and they deserve all the credits.
Space-related science is clearly one of my interests, and it is incredible to see how fast we are moving nowadays.
We're on the breach of multi-planetary life, and I wonder how it will affect humanity as a whole. Will we develop, finally, new forms of government, dictated by necessity? Will we learn to care more about one another, if we are isolated in a faraway place?
And, of course, the big questions, will we, and when, discover other life forms? Will they share parts of our DNA? Will we discover that we're all descendants of some remote species?
