Sacrifice
What you used to call Home were just some metal sheets barely standing. The first heavy storm would topple them over.
All you thought about was where to find your next little meal, for an unsatisfiable hunger.
Then, a twist in the thread of destiny, a night spent hiding in a barrel, the feeling of not having enough air to breathe, the pounding of your heart.
You never saw your parents again, but you are happy you were one of the few kids who had any at all.
Now, after all these years, you still marvel while staring at what humanity has built. Now, you understand what it means to sacrifice your life.
